William Wickenden
Here is a lovely clear photograph of my great-grandfather William WICKENDEN
He was born 3 April 1844 in Rendcombe (his father was the Miller there and the Enumerator on the 1851 census).
I've traced my Wickenden branch back to 1777 with a marriage in Lydney, but the family lived in Etloe.
In 1864 the Rev W S Wickdenden clerk BA of Etloe Villa near Blakeney, left William Wickenden the Miller the sum of 100 pounds and to William c1844 the field near Nibley known as Clarks Pool Fields.
On the 1871 census, William is living at Blakeney Road, and is a Butcher - 1881 Mill End Blakeney as a Butcher and Dealer.
1891 he is running the Temperance Hotel in Blakeney, and in 1901 he is at Nibley Mill - a Farmer and breeding Shire Horses. The family are buried in the Church at Blakeney.
