Kate was listed on the 1881 census as being 11 years old, her brother Arthur was 7, Maude (my great-grandmother) was listed as 13 and another sister, Bertha was 15 and a brother Tom was listed as 18.
In a letter (date unknown), Maude had written that "We lived in Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire. My father James Wintle (born about 1831) and my mother (born about 1831) were born there and lived there all their life."
In the letter she mentioned that her mother had 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls, Maude being the 5th daughter and 10th child. She goes on to say that her sisters, Bertha and Kate lived at Warrington near Liverpool, and Arthur lived in Ross, Herfordshire.
