There is a datestone under the bay window on the right which reads something like "Built for the Rev J Parnall 1925" The view from the house is across some of the fields of Park Farm to the Church.
The James family sold the Farm to Mervyn Freeman's building company who have converted the old buildings of Park Farm to houses.
The land adjoins other land owned now by Mervyn Freeman. There is a "tump" in one field which was always referred to as the castle. Perhaps because of the view down the valley towards the river Wye. Some old maps just show "ruins".
We bought the house from Mr Ewart Herbert (see the Cannop Foundry Newspaper cuttings) His wife had ran it as a guest house. They had lived there for many years but moved to a bungalow in Cinderford as his wife's illness progressed.
I remember the high ceilings and the large rooms, and that I used 100 yards of fabric to make the curtains for the bay windows! The second floor (attic) was also used for visitors in those days.
