Henry Allaway

This is a photo of my great uncle Henry ALLAWAY born October 19th 1876 at Ruardean.

His father was William ALLAWAY and his mother Louisa (nee TOMKINS)
Henry was a collier but on November 14th 1897 he joined the Life Guards

There is a family story that he was one of the escorts to Queen Victoria at her Diamond Jubilee but the Household Museum people was unable to confirm this for me. He served in the Boer War and WW1 and was finally discharged on February 1st 1920
