What’s been going on?
The new website is here. Forum not available. Searches not implemented. More details here.
Welcome
This website provides resources for family history researchers whose ancestors and families lived in the Forest of Dean and its borders. We also encourage discussion amongst researchers to help people find connections.
The information is free to view. But you will need to register on the Forum both if you wish to search the data or if you wish to post queries or replies in the Forum.
We do not charge for these facilities and donations are therefore very welcome to help cover costs.
The Forest
On the site..
Find people in data and documents
These resources available here include data that you can search, as well as documents that provide additional information about the forest as well as further sources for the names of ancestors.
Get help in the Forum
There is a Forum which has not only proved to be popular but a very valuabletool for breaking down brick walls.
Browse Old Photographs
Finally when you have a moment check out the Photo Gallery and view a huge collection of old photographs of people and places of the Forest of Dean.
What we cannot do
We do not provide a search service for individuals nor do we provide documentary evidence such as images of Register pages and Census etc. as to do so would in most cases be in breach of copyright.
