In short

We have finally made the move from the old site to a new implementation of the main website.

Alongside that we are updating all the software that powers the Forum and the searches of our data.

However much is still to be done to get it all working and there are still inconsistencies in the design and implementation of the website.

Recent Events

During late October there were wide concerns about php software which underpins many websites. As a precaution we shut the site and the forum to assess the situation. There was no evidence of problems with the old site but we have known for some time that we could not successfully update it.

A potential replacement site has been in preparation for some time and we decided that this should now be the main base for FODFHT. The original plan had been also update all the searches before introducing the new site. However we have gone ahead before doing so as some of those searches may require much further review.

The Forum

This has been updated recently but during the course of the changeover a small problem has arisen. We hope to fix this soon.

The New Site

You will see that we have retained something of the look and feel of the old site including the colour scheme and the logo. Much of the old page content is here but with a more consistent layout.

You may find various glitches including on cross links between pages as some of this has changed at the last moment. the formatting also needs a thorough review.

More follows when we have completed another pass across the whole structure during the next week.

One long term aim is to make much more of the documentary material (pdfs, captions to the pictures etc fully searchable.
